Canvas

Canvas Prints

Printed on real canvas and stretched over kiln-dried, mitered bars in our shop, or supplied flat for you to stretch or frame yourself. Any size up to 60 × 120 inches, in five canvas finishes.

Two ways to order

Stretched, or Flat

Stretched canvas arrives ready to hang: printed, coated, and wrapped around kiln-dried, mitered stretcher bars. Choose 3/8″, 1″ heavy-duty or 1½″ bars, and a gallery wrap (image continues around the edge), a mirror wrap, or a solid color edge.

Flat (à la carte) canvas is the print alone, unstretched, with or without a protective coating. Pick this if you have your own stretcher bars, want to frame the canvas under glass, or are shipping it rolled.

What Happens at the Edge

On a stretched canvas, the edge is part of the design. A gallery wrap continues the image around the sides. A mirror wrap reflects the edge of the image so nothing important disappears around the corner. A solid edge wraps the sides in a color you choose. Our printers will show you what each one does to your particular picture before you decide.

Questions People Ask Us

It depends on the canvas. Satin Décor and Gloss 17M don’t need one. The matte canvases benefit from a protective spray, which guards against scuffs and moisture. We’ll recommend one when it matters.
3/8″ bars suit smaller pieces and canvases that will be framed. 1½″ bars give a large canvas presence on the wall without a frame. 1″ heavy-duty is a good middle ground for mid-size pieces.
Yes. A stretched canvas can go in a floater frame, which leaves a small gap around the canvas, or a flat canvas can be framed conventionally. See Custom Framing.
